Why focus on child education

Focusing on child education is key in this project. Early child development plays a pivotal role in shaping young brains and fostering lifelong learning abilities. Teaching moral values at a young age establishes a strong foundation for ethical decision-making and character development. Additionally, empowering children with a voice in educational settings allows them to become heard and be engaged in their learning journey. As the future generation, they will have to meet the challenges of tomorrow and navigate the consequences of humanity’s actions. By creating this toolset for children, we swap the overall understanding of parents teaching children, but instead enable children so that they can educate their parents and teachers when planning the next family or school trip.

The current unsustainable way of traveling 

Unsustainable travel today poses significant challenges to our planet and communities. Travel is responsible for a staggering 8% of carbon emissions, contributing to climate change and environmental degradation. Moreover, the tourism industry often exploits workers, with many employees paid below a living wage and their rights not adequately respected. Mass tourism in popular destinations leads to environmental destruction and water scarcity, negatively impacting local ecosystems and communities. Sadly, the majority of profits are funneled into the hands of international corporations, rather than benefiting the local people. At the same time, we must recognize that the travel sector holds immense potential to foster positive change. By harnessing this potential, we can create a sustainable travel society for the future.  The paradox: More than 83 % of travelers are aware of this potential and want to travel more sustainably. But: many simply do not know how. The label jungle with 150+ sustainability certificates makes it intransparent to travel sustaianable friendly and changing one’s behavior is hard. Hence travelers mainly stick to what they have learned and observed in their parents’ and teachers’ behavior. Consequently, actions are crucial that motivate people already when they are young to develop sustainable travel habits making it the most fun, comfortable and joyful to choose green.
